DOSSIER

HISTORY: THG Wiki article handily combining both book and film!

Fleshing out what the Wiki doesn’t mention:
Cashmere is from District One, which is Panem’s wealthiest district. Unlike the poorer districts, One trains their children to have the best chance at winning the Games, eagerly volunteering for the arena instead of being reaped like other districts. This academy training gives their tributes a huge advantage. Katniss describes career tributes as “overly vicious, arrogant, better fed, but only because they’re the Capitol’s lapdogs [who are] universally, solidly hated by all but those from their own districts.” As is to be expected from her district, she trained as a child/teen and volunteered for the Games at 18.

WHAT ARE YOUR CHARACTER'S STRENGTHS?:
Cashmere is street smart. She knows she's beautiful and intelligent. She's manipulative and will use her full range of skills to get what she wants. In the Capitol that meant saccharine charm and flirtation and outside of the Capitol it means trying to make an ally/friend out of almost everyone so that they'll be on her side when she needs them.

The other aspect of her street smarts is that she’s good at playing by the rules. District One flourishes because they obey the Capitol and benefit from special attention they get in return. Compared to some of the other victors who’ve lost themselves to morphling or liquor, she appears to be good health and happy to be part of the Games. Where she's from, questioning authority gets you or someone you loved killed. She might not be happy with what's going on but it's rare that she'll rock the boat, knowing it will cause trouble for not only herself but for everyone else.

WHAT ARE YOUR CHARACTER'S WEAKNESSES?:
The downside to her particular brand of (manipulative) charm is that she lacks the true charisma that others (like Capitol darling Finnick Odair) have. The “real” Cashmere isn’t the same person that she presents to those outside her inner circle, and sometimes her attempts at being likable come off as inauthentic or desperate.

She can be a real jerk. Cashmere likes things to go her way, and when people aren’t playing along with that or she perceives them as a threat she gets ornery. We see this in her interactions with Katniss: she’s polite but not particularly friendly when they first meet and later insults her and storms off when she sees Katniss's wedding dress. Cashmere has spent a lot of time as a Capitol favorite and is infuriated when she senses that Katniss might have become more popular than she is.

Perhaps most significant is the mental and emotional damage that’s been done from her time in the Games and the years after. She’s distrustful and suspicious of new people and situations. Cashmere’s done her best to bury everything deep inside her but that doesn’t prevent her anger from boiling over or stop her from having nightmares. When she’s angry or afraid she’s likely to lash out at anyone who comes to close, including people she considers to be friends.

WHAT EVENTS OR CIRCUMSTANCES IN YOUR CHARACTER'S PAST HAVE IMPACTED THEM THE MOST?:
Gloss winning The Hunger Games set forth a chain of events that shaped the rest of her life. She went into the arena the following year, murdering her way to becoming the only sibling victor duo. After winning she was forced into prostitution by President Snow, and that consumed much of the next 11 years of her life. Snow made an example out of Haymitch, killing his entire family. Cashmere was and remains determined to not make that kind of mistake.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOUR CHARACTER?:
Protecting her brother is her number one motivation, followed by protecting herself as a distance second. She’s focused on surviving more than thriving and will do whatever feels necessary to accomplish that. Separated from him, she'll be focused on figuring out what's going on and finding a way back to him.

WHAT IMPRESSION DO OTHERS TEND TO HAVE OF YOUR CHARACTER?:
Cashmere ranges from polite but cool to late 20s woman throwing a tantrum over someone else’s outfit with a heavy dose of crying on command so they’ll like me - so in a single word: intense. Even in her quiet, one-on-one moments she retains that intensity, though it can be more positively focused into enthusiasm. Whether or not someone finds her intensity to be likable is a different matter.

IN WHAT WAYS DOES THAT IMPRESSION DIFFER FROM WHO YOUR CHARACTER REALLY IS?:
It’s pretty accurate, but anyone who sees only her intensity misses that she has reasons and purpose behind that energy: she's trying to protect the people she loves. Beyond that she’s a good friend and ally who’s more likable when she’s not trying to hard to curry anyone’s favor.

HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER HANDLE CRISIS OR ADVERSITY?:
Cashmere has faced a lot of adversity and has learned to smile like she’s really looking forward to it and face it head on. When she’s reaped for the Quarter Quell she smiles brightly for the camera, as though it’s an honor to go into the arena with her brother instead of a double death sentence. While other victor-tributes don’t even bother to train she puts in a full effort and receives high scores from the judges. Even facing imminent death she's not willing to half-ass anything.

She’ll apply the same strength and determination to any challenges that come her way in Wayward Pines.

WHICH 5 THINGS WILL YOUR CHARACTER REMEMBER UPON ARRIVAL, AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THEM?:

-- She has a brother: Gloss is the most important person in her life. She considers him to be her other half.
-- Trying (unsuccessfully) to scrub blood off her hands in a pond of murky water.
-- Being crowned victor of the 64th Hunger Games. She’ll remember being physically crowned by the president, the crowd cheering, how proud she was of herself.
-- A team of 4 wildly dresses people with weird accents dressing her in a sparkling gown and topping it with a diamond necklace.
-- Telling Katniss her outfit is ridiculous and feeling really, really Mad about it.

Why these memories: The Hunger Games has defined her entire life. Cashmere’s been a victor first and everything else second for a long time, and before she won she dedicated most of her life to prepping for the Games. Without her memories of the Games and everything that followed, she’s just herself, and that’s something she hasn’t had the chance to be in a very long time. Additionally, she’ll be left wonder while she’s all BEC about Katniss Everdeen.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU FEEL WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER?:

Idk her last name is perhaps Ritchson but obviously she’s like Beyonce and only needs a first name.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, & PHYSICAL WEAKNESSES:
Thanks to her preparations for The Hunger Games she is a trained killer (Haymitch refers to her as "lethal"). Outside of the arena that means she's athletic: stronger and faster than most other people. She's a runner, a strong swimmer, and can hold her own in hand-in-hand combat with someone larger than her. She’s skilled at throwing knives, and can also do some cool knife tricks (e.g. spinning a knife on it’s tip on her palm). It's also worth noting that she's killed before and has the mental capacity to do so again without a lot of anguish.

As for weaknesses she’s killed by an axe to the chest immediately after watching her brother be killed so I suppose we can say that when she is emotionally compromised she doesn’t exactly bring her A-game. She's also more inclined for speed vs strength, so it's best to leave the really heavy lifting to someone else.

INVENTORY:
--  her interview outfit: a short, bedazzled dress and a pair of really over the top sparkly platform heels. That'll be useful!
-- an emerald pendant necklace that was a gift from Gloss (and is also her arena token!)
-- A small throwing knife

personality
Cashmere is a deadly opponent - she's intelligent and beautiful and knows how to use both to her advantage. Getting what she wants is important and she will do what she has to in order to reach her goal. After killing other children and allowing herself to be sold to the Capitol's wealthy, there really isn't anything she wouldn't do to survive or to insure that those she loves will be safe.

A master of manipulation, her carefully crafted public image is largely a survival tool. As we learn from Haymitch, the Games don’t end after a victor is crowned, and coming from a career district she has a heavy responsibility to uphold the Capitol’s image and the glorification of the Games. Through her interactions with Katniss, we see several different sides of Cashmere, ranging from broken-hearted Capitol sweetheart to an angry, jealous brat. These interactions give us insight into how Cashmere treats those around her and why.

The first time they encounter each other, Katniss describes Cashmere as “polite but cool” and notes that her attempts to connect with the siblings is “medicore at best.” Although Cashmere is one of the younger victors, she has 10 years under her belt and doesn’t need Katniss as an ally. She has nothing she can gain from the girl, so Katniss is treated with complete disinterest.

Things have changed by the time the interview show rolls around. Cashmere has only one thing to say to Katniss: “Well, you look ridiculous!” She then stomps off with a toss of her hair and dragging her brother along behind her. In the time between training and the interviews, Cashmere’s disinterest has turned into rage. She's easily infuriated when things don't go her way, and her body language when Twelve steals the show during the interviews makes this apparent. Anyone who pisses Cashmere off is likely to get the same bitchy treatment - at least until she decides how to even the score.

Though she can be unfriendly and has a quick temper, Cashmere knows how to turn on the charm for people who she has something to gain from. Given what may be the last opportunity to prevent the 75th Games and save her own life, Cashmere pulls out all the stops. Katniss notes that “Cashmere starts the ball rolling with a speech about how she just can’t stop crying when she thinks of how much the people in the Capitol must be suffering because they will lose us.” Katniss doesn’t buy the crocodile tears but quickly realizes everyone else does - many of the Capitol citizens are moved to tears (Effie notes that “she’s very good”).

Cashmere has one major weakness: her brother. She volunteers for the Games the year after he wins, and throughout the book and film, Cashmere and Gloss are always mentioned together. Though she seems to be the more dominate sibling, he’s her other half and being without him is agonizing. What we don’t see in Catching Fire is the softer side of Cashmere. She’s a loyal friend and has a sharp sense of humor. She has the ability to be deeply kind, but knows that kindness is easily taken for weakness, and even when she’s fishing for sympathy she has no desire to be seen as as weak.

Knowing the kind of trauma she's been through, it's easy to imagine the kind of emotional and psychological damage that's been done. Katniss' first impression of her fellow victors is these tributes are crazy and there's no doubt that her assessment extends to Cashmere as well.
canon + crau history
Born and raised in Panem’s District One, Cashmere is no stranger to luxury or violence. The district is well known in Panem for producing luxury items for the Capitol, and for churning out victors - both of these win the district a lot of favor in the Capitol (Katniss refers to One as “Capitol lapdogs”). While the vast majority of District residents are starving and struggling to survive, people in One are well-fed, well-clothed, and by all appearances seem to be living a life of leisure.

Along with her twin brother, Gloss, she trained at the (technically illegal) district academy to prepare for the Games. Training begins at a very young age, and those who go on to the Games in are, in Haymitch’s words, “pretty lethal.” After watching her brother win the 63rd Games, she volunteered at 18 and became the 64th winner of the Hunger Games.

Life as a victor is not as wonderful as advertised, and Cashmere spends the next 11 years of her life as Capitol property. Victors who are attractive and desired are given by President Snow to Capitol residents as rewards and can be bought for the right price. Haymitch tells Katniss that his disobedience to the Capitol was a warning for later victors, like Cashmere. To protect herself and her family, she does what Snow asks of her. While some victors fade into obscurity, Cashmere and Gloss are Capitol favorites, due in large part to their willingness to obey Snow and their skill in manipulation.

During the preparations for the 75th Games, many of the victors skip training (likely knowing that they will lose) but Cashmere trains hard. She receives a high score from the Gamemakers, indicating either that she performed well in her private evaluation or that the Gamemakers intended for her to be a target in the arena. Given her popularity in the Capitol it’s more likely that she scored well. Unfortunately for Cashmere, the Games were rigged and she had no chance of winning. Unaware that many of her fellow victors are involved in the building rebellion (having not been invited to participate), she and the other Career tributes form a pack and begin picking off the other tributes one by one. In retaliation for killing her ally, Katniss kills Gloss. Cashmere reacts immediately, and before she can close the distance between herself and Katniss, Johanna Mason’s axe lands in her chest. She dies instantly.

Previous Game and Time: Checking In, Feb 2015-June/July 2015 (entire run of game)

Previous Development:
Significant events over the course of her time at the hotel include:
  • Received a gift basket that included white roses and sent her on a crazy sort of spiral as she took it as evidence of the Capitol’s involvement in the hotel. This happened in March, and she spent the remainder of her time convinced that she was being punished by President Snow and that it was a continuation of the 75th Hunger Games. She became paranoid and ruthless (for example, she had to be persuaded by the person closest to her to share food with the hotel’s children during a starvation event. She also regularly stole and hoarded supplies from around the hotel).
  • Traded and made deals with other residences so that she had the supplies for prison wine, thereby controlling the only alcohol supply in the hotel and distributing it as she saw fit. She had previously offered sex in exchange for a hot shower and no one took her up on the offer, but it made people wary of her and her intentions.

How Checking In changed her:
Though she was at a very low point at the end of her time at the hotel, dropping in a new environment will snap her back into Games mode. While she’ll be willing to accept she’s far from home (even in another world all together), she’s still going to be gung-ho on her theory that President Snow is somehow involved in this.
Her time in the hotel was the longest she’d ever been away from her brother, and now that she knows he’s dead she has to continue figuring how to live as a singular person instead of half of a set of twins. His death has left her incredibly emotionally damaged and much more reckless. In Panem she always had to worry about the consequences her actions would have for those she loved, but now the only person left is her and she’s got enough confidence in her abilities that she’ll take risks that she wouldn’t have before.
Her canon bump in the last month of her time at the hotel, which undid all progress she had made in allying herself with the other residents from Panem. This brought her to the canon point of her own death (which she was already aware of), and also meant that she witnessed Katniss killing her brother.
Upon her return to the hotel after her canon bump, Katniss was nowhere to be found and her desire for revenge remained unfulfilled. It also sparked her unraveling further emotionally and mentally. Prior to this she was fixated on escaping the hotel, but upon realizing that her brother was dead, she felt that she had no reason to escape and nothing to live for. She’d made a few friends during her stay and though she never had the opportunity to act on, planned to sabotage their attempts to leave so that she wouldn’t be alone.
She’s also much more willing to form friendships and alliances with strangers. Perhaps even more importantly, she’s almost figured out that people respond much better to the “real” Cashmere than the Capitol version of her, and is easing her way towards dropping the Capitol sweetheart act that served her so well in Panem.

Inventory:
Her strange inventory is from her previous game.
  • clothes: long tee shirt, knee high socks, tracksuit, knee-high boots
  • weapon: butter knife that’s been sharpened into a shank.
  • misc: CD of traditional Panem music but no CD player, emerald pendant necklace, 3 glowsticks

Abilities: Cashmere has professionally trained to compete in the Hunger Games, and continued to train after winning. She’s strong and fast, and skilled in a variety of weapons. She favors knives.
She’s persuasive and charming, which won her many fans in the Capitol. Cashmere is skilled at reading those around her and knows how to present herself in a way to win their favor.
Miscellaneous abilities include singing, social dancing, small talk - the kind of stuff that helped her do well with Capitol citizens.

Flaws: No shortage of flaws here. She killed multiple other teens during her first Games - and even now doesn’t feel much in the way of remorse or guilt. As a mentor, she has some partial responsibility for the death of tributes from her district. To round out the body count, she also killed other tributes during the 75th Games - people who, if not her friends, were at the very least her peers.
Other than the bad she’s done, Cashmere’s kind of a jerk. She’s vindictive hot-tempered, and selfish. As they say, she’s not here to make friends. Her first concern about other people is what they can do for her.

  • Antoine “Trip” Triplett: Her neighbor in the hotel who for some reason handled any crazy she threw at him with incredible grace. After her brother’s death, he keeps a close eye on her and helps her to find a way to move on. He’s taught her that it’s okay to let her guard down for the right person.

CHARACTER INFORMATION

NAME: Cashmere (no last name)
CANON: The Hunger Games
AGE: late-20s (we'll say 29)
CANON POINT: Immediately following the pre-Game tribute interviews of the 75th Hunger Games.

BACKGROUND: Wiki
INCENTIVE/FIT: Living in Eudio is a safer, more idealistic version of the life Cashmere has. In Panem, desirable victors can be bought by (or are given as a reward to) the Capitol's elite. She has spent the last 11 years of her life involved in this secretive world of victor prostitution, all to protect her brother. Trading intimacy to get what she wants isn't new, but having the agency to choose when and where it happens is.

Cashmere’s number one motivation is always her brother, Gloss. Offered the chance to come to Eudio in exchange for anything she desires, Cashmere wants freedom for her and Gloss. Freedom from Snow, The Hunger Games, and the sex trade they've been forced into.

She'll fit in well into Eudio, and feel comfortable with the idea of being intimate with strangers. Cashmere will likely exercise her right to say no (just because she can and she rarely gets the opportunity to do so), while still keeping in within the expectations of the city.

Name: Cashmere
Canon: The Hunger Games (book/film mix)
Age: 29
Timeline: Catching Fire, at the beginning of the Games, just after the initial bloodbath at the cornucopia

Age Up?: n/a

Background:
garbage wiki

Personality:

The first time they encounter each other, Katniss describes Cashmere as “polite but cool” and notes that her attempts to connect with the siblings is “medicore at best.” Although Cashmere is one of the younger victors, she has 11 years under her belt and doesn’t need Katniss as an ally. She has nothing she can gain from the girl, so Katniss is treated with complete disinterest.

Things have changed by the time the interview show rolls around. Cashmere has only one thing to say to Katniss: “Well, you look ridiculous!” She then stomps off with a toss of her hair and dragging her brother off.

Though she’s unfriendly and has a quick temper, Cashmere knows how to turn on the charm for people who she has something to gain from. Given what may be the last opportunity to stop the 75th Games and save her own life, Cashmere pulls out all the stops.

She volunteers for the Games the year after he wins, and throughout the book and movie, Cashmere and Gloss are always mentioned together. Though she seems to be the more dominate sibling, he’s her other half and being without him will be agonizing.

Knowing the kind of trauma she's been through, it's easy to imagine the kind of emotional and psychological damage that's been done. Katniss' first impression of her fellow victors is these tributes are crazy and there's no doubt that her assessment extends to Cashmere as well.

[ The feed comes on, and Cashmere is smiling warmly at the camera. She’s practically glowing, and the lighting is almost weirdly good. It’s less weird if you’re aware she spent the last 15 minutes trying to get the light just right. Her hair is done, she’s wearing lipstick and - yep - she’s just winked at her audience. She’s definitely trying to play to her strengths.]

I don’t know what everyone’s so upset about it. I like it here. The rain is beautiful, isn’t it? In fact, I’ve never slept better. That’s not even to mention the incredible food.

[ She’s sucking up like crazy, and unless you know her from home, it’s pretty convincing. ]

That being said, I have few issues to address with some of you. [ The big, bright smile disappears from her face as she tosses her long blonde curls over one shoulder. Whatever it is that's been bothering her, you better hope she’s not talking about you.]

First of all: if you’re the one who has been singing that cute little song about some place called Georgia. Stop. I don’t know where Georgia is and I don’t care why the lights are out, especially not at three in the morning when my lights are out. One a related note, you're pitchy.

Second: Someone has my blue shirt and I want it back.

And one last thing: those of you from Panem, please meet me by the fireplace in fifteen minutes. We have business to discuss.

[She smiles at the camera again.] That's all. [The feed cuts out. She has places to be.]

You still want love. Love's ugly, smooth and delicate. But not without affection, no not alone. And instead of wishing that it would get better, man you're seeing that you just get angrier. And it's good that I'm not angry. Well I need to get over, I'm not angry, anymore. Cry when you cry, run when you run, love when you love, represent the ashes that you leave behind. And instead of wishing that the road had shoulder, man you're seeing that you're sinking over time.ANGRY (matchbox twenty);

Love of mine, some day you will die but I'll be close behind - I'll follow you into the dark. No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white, just our hands clasped so tight, waiting for the hint of a spark. If Heaven and Hell decide that they both are satisfied, illuminate the No's on their vacancy signs. If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks, then I'll follow you into the dark.I WILL FOLLOW YOU INTO THE DARK (death cab for cutie);

The first deal's the hardest I'm sure. Where our shadows come to the shore, know that it's you and I till the end. And all I want from life is to hold your hand. All that I have are these bones and all that I want is a home and all you can do is promise me bold that you won't let me grow dark or cold as long as we both shall live. The sirens come (they always will) but the dart between my heart and his is as good as a diamond chain.REST IN THE BED (laura marling);

I'm gonna love you until you hate me and I'm gonna show you what's really crazy. You should've known better then to mess with me, honey. I'm gonna love you, I'm gonna love you, gonna love you, gonna love you like a black widow, baby. I'm gonna love you until it hurts. Just to get you I'm doing whatever works. You've never met nobody that'll do you how I do ya, that will bring you to your knees. BLACK WIDOW (iggy azalea);

Oh, how glorious, glorious: a brand new need is born. now we possess you. you’ll own that. you’ll own that. now we possess you. you’ll own that in time. now we will build you an endlessly upward world, (reach in your pocket) embrace you for all you’re worth. is that wrong? isn’t this what you want?THE HYMN OF ACXIOM (vienna tang);

When I wake up in my makeup it's too early for that dress. Wilted and faded somewhere in Hollywood, I'm glad I came here with your pound of flesh. No second billing 'cause you're a star now. Oh, Cinderella, they aren't sluts like you. Beautiful garbage, beautiful dresses. Can you stand up or will you just fall down? You better watch out oh, what you wish for. It better be worth, it so much to die for.CELEBRITY SKIN (hole);

No more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world. And I could hear the thunder and see the lightning crack. All around the world was waking, I never could go back. Cause all the walls of dreaming, they were torn wide open. And finally it seemed that the spell was broken. And all my bones began to shake, my eyes flew open. And all my bones began to shake, my eyes flew open. No more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone. BLINDING (florence + the machine);

There's a heart I cannot hide, there's a beat I can't deny when it sings, when it lies, when it cheats, when it bribes. There is a war inside my core, I hear it fight, I hear it roar. Go ahead, go ahead, lay your head where it burns.Even though it hurts, even though it scars. Love me when it storms, love me when I fall. Every time it breaks, every time its torn, love me like I'm not made of stone. Love me like I'm not made of stone. LOVE ME LIKE I'M NOT MAKE OF STONE (lykke li);

Hey brother, do you still believe in one another? Hey sister, do you still believe in love, I wonder? Oh, if the sky comes falling down for you, There’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do. What if I'm far from home? Oh, brother I will hear you call.What if I lose it all? Oh, sister I will help you out! Oh, if the sky comes falling down for you, there’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do.HEY BROTHER (avicii);

They're polite but cool, and I spend the whole time thinking about how I killed both the tributes from their district, Glimmer and Marvel, last year, and that they probably knew them and might even have been their mentors. Both my hammock and my attempt to connect with them are mediocre at best.

Like all potential candidates for the Games in One, Cashmere began training at the Academy at a young age. By the time she was sixteen, it was clear that she and Gloss were top contenders to be allowed to represent One. With so many people in One vying for the right to be a tribute, the only way to secure the right to volunteer is by defeating the other potentials in a single-elimination tournament. Traditionally, One only sends 18 year old to the Games. When they were seventeen, Gloss challenged and defeated the nominated male tribute, earning the right to go to the Games early.

Gloss wins the 63rd Games and comes home different in a way that's hard for her to fully understand. She becomes immediately fearful that she will lose him to his new life as a Victor, and realizes that her chance to follow him into that life disappears a little more each day. She moves to the Victor's Village with him and never mentions her plan to volunteer. He doesn't know until she's on stage at the 64th reaping that she'll be going to the Arena.

Her arena is a deadly swamp. The entire thing is messy and horrific, but the spots they replay over and over again are Cashmere drowning the boy from Six in the murky waters, and her screaming like a banshee while her district partner is torn to shreds by a crocodile - then her beating the life out of the beast in retaliation. As her mentor Gloss fights nearly as hard as she does and there are more than a few people that say he won her Games for her.

She wins and other than becoming one half of the most famous siblings in Panem, life doesn't seem to change much. For a few months Cashmere thinks she has everything she's ever wanted.

It's not until her Victory Tour (a whirlwind where she gets drunk for the first time, and indulges in the rich food at every stop - after all, she's earned it) that she learns the price of winning. One the last night, her escort shuffles her off to a private meeting with Snow. He lays out his expectations in no uncertain terms and threatens her parents and Gloss. Because she doesn't want to made into an example like Haymitch, she agrees. He sells her for the first time that night. She feels cheated and betrayed but doesn't tell anyone what's happened. Two years pass before she finds out that Gloss has made the same deal with Snow.

She drinks heavily on nights she's "working" and takes the drugs her clients offer her. It's not long before she develops a way to survive: disassociating herself from her body and what's happening around her. After that, she forgets their faces and everything but the worst nights fade from her memory.

Not many people would describe Cashmere as friendly. If she's decided that someone can't do her any favors, they're likely to bear the brunt of her mean streak (which is pretty wide). She mocks most of the other victors to their face, especially when drunk. One-on-one she can be much kinder. She's jealous of those who thinks are allowed to have the quiet lives of luxury that the victors supposedly have earned.

She mentors more often than she would like, and when she's not mentoring they request her presence in the Capitol anyway. She tries hard to help her tributes win, but often hopes they don't. She knows that the beautiful ones will end up like her and it's a relief to watch them die.

Cashmere doesn't volunteer for the 75th Games, but she's not surprised when her name is called. From the moment Snow announces the Quell, she knows she's going back in. She trains hard but she never intends to win - the Capitol won't let themselves be tricked into having two victors again and there's no point in living without Gloss. She promises him, in together, out together and when Katniss' arrow hits it's mark she doesn't think twice before throwing herself in the path of Johanna's axe.
