I remember you telling me you fought kids in an arena before. And that there were mutts. The birds are kind of weird since they can't actually hurt you- just torment you. So I thought maybe you'd know about them? It kind of seemed like the sort of thing that might've been used.
(The kid's pretty great at connecting dots, okay, even when he's got the bare minimum to work with.)
Jabberjays. [ which is a yes, she is very aware of the birds. and she's kind of impressed that he figured it out. smart guy. ]
The Capitol made them to be used as spies during the first war. Anything they hear they can repeat. They know my brother's voice. [ Noises from home. very unsettling. ]
(If they hadn't talked, he never would have. But the kid was kind of hand-picked specifically for puzzle solving so you know.
It's...interesting though. Their worlds sounded more similar than ever. Just different tactics.)
So they're dangerous in a different kind of way than just teeth and claws. And traumatizing.
(He's.....hesitant to ask what he wants to ask. But information is valuable and he likes to think that Cashmere....That she might realize he's not heartless.)
So those screams. Those are all things they've heard before. Does that mean what I think it means?
But they knew! They knew about those birds and the birds know my brother voice. I don't believe the monsters get here on accident. It's all on purpose.
(Newt takes a moment. He kind of understands her paranoia. No, not even kind of. Definitely.
And he also kind of agrees.)
All right, so the monsters probably are here on purpose. I can't deny that. Everything here seems quite delicately placed. But. I don't believe it's your fault. There seem to be plenty monsters here no one has ever heard of before. I think the Door maybe just pulls in random monsters and your world just so happens to have monsters. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled in monsters from my world at some point.
Then eat one. I'll help you take some down and we can make some chicken wings. Jabberjay wings?

It's a distinct possibility. I mean it's hardly as if you yourself created the jabberjay. Can't carry the burden of your entire world, Cash.
Hopefully good. At least if they suck though you'll have the satisfaction of dismantling one and covering it with hot sauce. That ought to be pretty satisfying.
