[ the best part about Chris being good at making coffee is that Cashmere never has to make her own coffee. it's important to appreciate the little things when facing extermination from scary space bugs. ]
[Coffee is one of those little things that goes a long way.]
Thanks. Yeah, I mean, I've barely heard from anyone who wasn't just worried or had a plan or both; I guess people know better than to mess with someone as badass as I am.
[He's joking, of course, although what he said about no one bothering him is accurate.]
So um, yeah, Hope doesn't think having a weapon will help them out at all and really doesn't want anyone getting hurt, and I making him use up energy on top of that is also a problem. But um, someone else had another idea, kind of similar to yours, except like... Apparently he knows someone who can fake a death well enough that he's willing to risk trying to trick the Null. They uh, just need to know who to make the dead person appear to be, so I might be lending my awesome looks to the cause.
[ she nods. it makes sense, even if Cash does think her ridiculous scheme was worth a try. Hope is probably right. ]
That's a good plan. And if it keeps you, our resident badass safe, that's important. [ she's quiet a moment. ] The Null are going to be really angry if they figure any of this out. Not that they're not already angry or whatever emotion it is that computers have.
[He's glad she seems to agree; he'd thought her plan was worth a shot too, but only if the end result would've gotten them something, which unfortunately doesn't seem to be the case. He's also kind of glad she's not going to be the one taking the risk regarding dealing with the Null.
Chris smiles a little at her going along with the joke about being a badass, but mostly at the general sentiment behind the comment. But yeah, as for the Null--]
Yeah, they uh, get pretty pissy for being like, supposedly emotionless robots. But sucks to suck, and hopefully they won't find out anyway.
Not being robots is really our advantage here. People can stay off the network and I assume there's not much they can do about them. I think they'll get more than they bargained for.
[ or they're exterminate all the humans and nearly-humans as though they were small bugs. she's trying to put much though into that possibility. ]
[Chris shrugs at the question, finishing making the coffee and handing Cashmere hers.]
As okay as I can, I guess. I'm not super big on people taking a risk like that, since it's probably a lot more dangerous to try faking a death, but I mean... This is kind of a situation where we've got to take some risks, right?
[ she sips at her coffee. ] Yeah. Calculated risks. I think if we make mistakes they might be more permanent than we're used to. And I'm worried that we might not be able to trust everyone.
Yeah. I'm like, a little hesitant to go full paranoia because that nearly went really badly back home and I'm trying to um... Not repeat the same mistakes, but yeah. We definitely need to be careful.
[As for this specific instance--]
The person who um, suggested this plan to me, already talked to me about another plan on working against the Null, so I think they mean it. And since I'm already like, on the Null's hit list already, I don't think this can backfire on me too badly; I'm already exactly as fucked as I could be while still being alive.
[ she laughs. He makes a good point. ] You're right about that. If they're out to get you, maybe it would be better to risk making the Null angry. Go out in a blaze of glory instead of being hunted down.
Team cave blondes. [ she feels a little wistful. ] Remember when we could just bother everyone on the network without worrying about being annihilated?
I'm going to hold you to that. It'll be our best post yet. [ can people be banned from the network? cause someone should probably ban them from the network. ]

Hey, uh, you know who said no way, not worth it.

Speaking of extreme sports, someone has an idea about something else exciting to do; want to get some coffee and hear about it?

[And as promised, Chris is making fancy coffee at Delight's temple by the time Cashmere gets there.]

Glad to see you're still in one breathing piece.

[ she might do the same in his situation. ]
Do you need help with anything?

[But he's grinning a little, in general agreement. He's not a fan of the whole being hunted down thing.]
I think we're good, but I just um, wanted to make sure you knew what was up.

Thanks. You're the best friend a bro could ask for.

I'm glad we're friends. There aren't many people I'd rather be stuck in a hellcave with.

Not words I ever thought I'd hear or say, but yeah, same to you. Team cave blonds, right?

[Though that said--]
After all this is over, though, we're going to have to think of something totally ridiculous to post on the network. It's our sworn duty.
[And maybe it'll cheer people up, in addition to being fun and giving them something to look forward to.]

[They probably should be, although Chris would be pretty sure that being bros with Hope means he'll get special privileges that will extend to her.]
