[ well that she wasn't expecting. Cashmere frowns a little. she doesn't particularly like the gods, but she's also not super thrilled about doing anything that might piss them off. and if she were to guess, they aren't planning a friendly chat. ]
Talking to them about what?
[ it's not a yes or a no - yet. rocking the boat isn't her first choice but she could probably be talked into it. ]
[Chris isn't a huge fan of conflict in general, especially when it isn't necessary, so fortunately this whole plan is a little milder than it probably initially comes across.]
Kind of uh... A variety of things. Basically this like, came from that I asked Fear about um... The whole wendigo thing. I wanted to know if he knew that the wendigos needed people to engage in cannibalism when he decided to mess with the food supply.
[Ultimately it probably hadn't mattered, but Chris had wanted to know if the whole thing was intentional or just the worst coincidence ever.]
He told me that um, since the wendigos didn't feel fear, just rage, he couldn't tell anything about them. But that means Rage probably could, so she probably did the whole thing on purpose, but uh... More important is the not being able to tell anything about them thing.
[And okay, he has a point here besides that fact--]
So I told Maketh about that, and we were um, thinking maybe we should all be asking the gods a lot more questions. But it'd be a lot less suspicious if a bunch of different people are asking different gods stuff rather than one or two people like, totally grilling one or two of them.
[ that is far less intense or serious than she'd imagined it might be, and Cash breathes a sigh of relief. he makes some good points, even though (especially?) she never wants to think about all the wendigo chaos ever again.
it'd be lying to say she wasn't curious, even if she's not all in when it comes to trying to get home. there's nothing to go back to, and she doesn't know if she could go anywhere else. between death and hell, she supposes she'll pick hell. ]
Okay. [ it's a cautious agreement. ] So we'd ask them more about this place and about home? Try and see what they know?
[Chris would love to never think about the wendigos again either, but he knows practically that it's not possible. Worse, even if it were possible it would probably be a mistake.]
Yeah, basically. I mean, right now we're just... Really lacking on any sort of information on what's going on here, and we're stuck reacting to whatever the gods decide to pull on us. Maybe if we can find out more, we can... I dunno. Maybe not just be like, five steps behind all the time.
[Maybe they can be proactive, or even just have some idea of what to expect. He doesn't expect they'll somehow hit upon some information they can use to do something as drastic as go home or anything, but the possibility for knowledge that might let them have any bit of control is going to be better than what they have now, which is nothing.]
But um, don't feel like you have to agree or anything. If you don't want to for like, any reason, it's totally fine.
[And he means it; he knows it might be risky, even if they're just asking questions. He's talked to Fear several times now and is still terrified that one wrong word and Fear's just going to kill a bunch of people, and that's definitely never happened--in fact Fear's never even sounded annoyed at him--but he's still nervous about it. So he understands if Cashmere might not be interested in being involved in this whole plan.]
[ oh, Chris. what a doll. she appreciates his reassurances but they're not really necessary. asking questions seems pretty harmless in the grand scheme of things, especially if she's careful about the questions she asks. Cashmere intends to choose her questions very, very carefully. ]
[It's a relief to hear she's interested, even if he would've understood if she weren't. Mostly for that reason that--]
Uh, aside from me and Maketh? No one yet. Em is thinking about it and I'm going to ask Sam, and Maketh is asking some of her friends too but I haven't heard back from her yet.
What an army. [ but... okay, Chris. she shakes her head a little. ] Okay. Well, I'm in. Let me know what happens with that. I'll start thinking of some questions.

I'm in. Who else is in?

[Hopefully anyway. And he smiles a bit at her agreement, because finally something is going right with this.]
Awesome. I will totally let you know once we're sure of who's in, and then I figure we'll all meet up somewhere and discuss who's asking who what.
[Now that that's settled--]
I'm uh... Gonna head back to the bar then. I seriously need some coffee.
[He always needs coffee.]
